Study Abroad Award

Study Abroad Awards are used to recognize Hagan Scholars for outstanding academic achievement. Recipients will have the opportunity to visit and explore another country, meet its people, and experience its culture, art, and history firsthand. Study abroad will enhance a resume and career opportunities. The award amount will pay all program costs including Tuition and Fees, Room and Board, Round Trip Airfare, and Incidental Expenses, up to $8,000.

Eligible recipients are notified the fall semester of their third year of college and provided with a Study Abroad Application.

Eligibility Criteria
1. Must have achieved a 3.50 CGPA after the second year of college.  
2. Must have fulfilled all Scholarship Criteria and Recipient Responsibilities.
3. Must complete a Study Abroad Application.

1. Study Abroad must be arranged by recipient’s college or university or an alternate provider approved by HSF.
2. Study Abroad must relate to recipient’s major or minor and enable recipient to earn college credits.
3. Study Abroad college credits cannot count toward the mandatory 30 college credits that must be completed each academic year.
4. Study Abroad must occur during the winter intercession of recipient’s third year of college; during spring break of recipient’s third year of college; or, during the summer following recipient’s third year of college.
5. Study Abroad must not conflict with the mandatory July Workshop.
6. Study abroad recipients must return home by July 12 and write a report about their study abroad experience.
